Friday Breakouts
Becoming a Church Who Sends Out Planters
Panel Discussion hosted by David Ambrose
Room 1
Join host David Ambrose of Heartland Community Church in Medina, Ohio, and a distinguished panel of sending-church pastors from across the NAB for an hour of exploring how your church can take her next steps toward planting churches, missional communities, or ministries to serve your community. Our panel represents rural, suburban, and city churches ready to field your questions as you seek to take your first or your next steps in becoming a church who sends out planters.
Cross-Cultural Engagement and Local Church Relationships
Panel Discussion hosted by the NAB Cross-Cultural Engagement Team
Room 2
How do we experience body life and grow amid ethnic, economic, and cultural differences so we might honor Christ in our unity in him? Led by the Cross-Cultural Engagement Team, we will dialogue regarding the ins and outs of cross-cultural relationships in the local church. We will hear about how we navigate cross-cultural relationships in a way that honors God and is led by love of one another. Members of Faith Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, will share their experiences.
The Inward (Outward) Journey
Deb Judas, Rob Loane, and Luke Miller
Room 3
To join God on mission, we must take seriously the call to the inward journey. Dallas Willard said, “Discipleship is the process of becoming who Jesus would be if He were you.” To become good news for the sake of the world, Christ must be formed in us as leaders, who help others to be formed also. This workshop paints a picture and gives practical help in the formation process.
Essentials of Church Revitalization
Warren Rachele
Room 4
Join Pastor Warren Rachele of Hope Community Church in Paul, Idaho, for a powerful and pointed journey through one church’s story of revitalization. You will hear not only Pastor Warren’s story but also get a glimpse into the essentials he has used and coached others with in his more than 20 years of fruitful ministry in revitalization. In addition, Warren will provide a few resources that will greatly serve you. If your church is in any stage or state of revitalization, this hour will contribute to significant Kingdom fruit.
Emerging Leaders: Moving Forward in Mission and Formation
Panel Discussion hosted by NAB Emerging Leaders
Room 5
Developing emerging leaders who are shaped to reach their neighborhoods is critical for today’s church. Members of the emerging leadership team will discuss how current initiatives are shaping the NAB in our missional–formational movement. We will hear from key 20- and 30-something leaders in churches around North America. This conversation will assist local church leaders in gaining an understanding of their role in helping to prepare emerging leaders for ministry in an increasingly pluralistic and divided culture.
NAB Missions: Missionary Perspectives
NAB Missionaries hosted by NAB International Missions Staff
Room 6
Come meet and hear from our NAB missionaries attending Triennial. Hear firsthand what their greatest blessings and challenges are in their specific fields. You will also have opportunity to ask them questions about their countries of service, their ministry, and how they are doing in the midst of it all.
Meeting Our Global Missionary Partners
Panel Discussion
Room 7
Join the NAB International Missions staff and Global Missionary Partners (formerly referred to as national missionaries) from various NAB fields as they share stories from ministry in their country of origin. Find out how your church can directly impact our NAB mission fields and these Global Missionary Partners by developing a sister-church partnership in their countries through NAB Gateway. If your church is wondering how to deepen its relationship with international missions, this hour can drive the passion to take your next step.
The Outward (Inward) Journey
Merv Budd and Karen Wilk
Room 8
To join God on mission, we must take seriously the call to the outward journey of proclaiming the Gospel. David Bosch calls evangelism “the ‘heart’ of mission. If you cut the heart out of a body, that body becomes a corpse. With evangelism cut out, mission dies; it ceases to be mission.” To proclaim the good news in turbulent times, we must understand the whole Gospel and learn to share in our words and actions without capitulation. This workshop will encourage you personally and provide practical tools to helping your church to share the Gospel.
Church Finance
Igor Mokhov and Bob Glim (CIF)
Room 9
Come join us for a church finance session, where we will cover many important topics, such as best practices for setting budgets, developing internal controls, and financial reporting.
“We Are Better Together Than Alone!”
Harry Kelm, NAB Executive Director
Room 10
Many people who belong to NAB churches do not know what it means to be NAB. This breakout intends to tell the story of what it means to be part of the North American Baptist Conference, unpacking the values and commitments of the NAB community of faith. It is a story of God’s grace and a faithfulness to loving God in Jesus Christ with all our heart, soul, and strength, and loving our neighbor as ourselves.

Join Greg Henson, David Williams, Geoff Hartt, Lyndell Campbell-Réquia, Doug Kempton, and Shan Reed as we highlight how Kairos is working in and with a variety of NAB communities. Join us and dream together what this might look like in your context.
